Our Story

Our Story

P & I Services began business in 1961 as the commercial correspondent in New Zealand for all the P&I Clubs in the International Group.  At inception, the business was owned by four of the P & I Clubs before moving to local ownership.  Today, we represent P & I Clubs, H&M insurers, other marine insurers as well as insurers which cover, transport, logistics, agents, ports and other professionals.  We also advise ship operators and others in the transport industry.

We are a modern business focussed on quick response and achieving cost effective solutions.  We value our strong long-term relationships with P & I Clubs and other insurers.

We are involved with everything from day-to-day matters to the largest of maritime incidents and we have represented our insurer clients in every major maritime incident on the New Zealand coast  over the last 65 years.

We also have a long history of work in the Pacific. We have been involved for our clients in appointing our local contacts in the Pacific where local advice is required.  We obtain advice, monitor claims and investigate incidents in the near Pacific Islands such as Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, Samoa, and Kiribati.

We set out below examples of major incidents where we have represented our clients over recent years.
